Brass Jewelry Care
Although brass, with its golden sheen, often resembles gold, it oxidizes unlike gold. To ensure that brass jewelry retains its original color and luster for as long as possible, proper care is necessary.
Protect from Moisture
Moisture is one of the main reasons why brass jewelry can experience corrosion (color and texture changes) and the appearance of dark deposits. Therefore, it is important to protect them from moisture, especially direct contact with water.
Avoid Aggressive Chemicals
Acids and other chemicals, sweat, perfumes, cosmetics, and cleaning products can also cause chemical reactions on the surface of brass (black deposits and corrosion). Therefore, it is recommended to wear jewelry only after cosmetics or perfume on the skin has completely dried.
Do Not Use Cleaning Agents
To maintain the blackening of ornaments, it is not advisable to clean Mark of the Grass Snake jewelry with liquids intended for cleaning brass.
Avoid Friction
Brass is softer than other metals, so it can scratch, wear, or deform more easily. Continuous friction, especially with harder objects, can gradually smooth out expressive surface features, such as embossed ornaments or engravings, and wear off the jewelry's blackening. Avoid unnecessary friction and impacts, and keep brass jewelry separate from other jewelry, ideally in a fabric bag.
Protect from Heat
Sun rays and high temperatures can cause changes in the color and structure of the metal, metal expansion, and, at very high temperatures, even deformation. These changes can be particularly noticeable in thinner or more detailed elements of the jewelry. Therefore, it is advisable to store jewelry in a cool, dark, and definitely dry place to avoid possible damage.
